Wood Science and Technology Program, 5755 Nutting Hall, College of Natural Resources, Forestry & Agriculture, University of Maine, Orono, Maine 04469-5755
Graduate research opportunities at the M.S. and Ph.D. level are available in several areas. All work-spaces and laboratories have recently undergone major renovation (~5,000 ft2) and are well equipped with modern equipment. The facilities of the Advanced Engineered Wood Composites Center , a new 48,000 ft2 facility including state-of-the- art manufacturing and evaluation equipment, is also available for many projects. Research areas include Wood Preservation and Biotechnology, Wood Mechanics, Wood Physics, Marketing, Wood Adhesion, Composite Materials, and Wood Chemistry. Strong ties with researchers in other Departments including Chemistry (Wood Chemistry), Chemical Engineering (Pulp & Paper), Molecular Biology (Wood Biotechnology), and Civil Engineering (Wood Engineering) exist to create an excellent research infrastructure
