Iowa State University
Department of Forestry, Iowa State University, Ames, Iowa 50011

Iowa State University has offered a professional forestry curriculum since 1904. Graduate-level scientific study has always been an important aspect of the program. The current programs are closely coordinated with intensive and expanding research programs in selected areas including wood science and technology. The department offers a M.S. degree in Wood Science and Ph.D. in Forest Biology/Wood Science. Wood Science graduates with a Master's degree usually obtain employment with industry in product and process development, production control, engineering, marketing, and personnel management. Graduates with a Ph.D. obtain employment in research with large wood products firms and government and in teaching and research with universities. Because the graduate program at Iowa State University stresses fundamentals, graduates have broad opportunities for employment
