Volk – tavolk@esf.edu) in Syracuse, NY is inviting applications for an M.S. assistantship (20 hrs/wk for 2 years) to work on harvesting and logistics of short rotation woody crops as part of the NEWBio (Northeast Woody/Warm Season Biomass – http://www.newbio.psu.edu/) funded by the US Department of Agriculture. Candidate will have a Bachelor’s of Science in Forestry, Agriculture, Forest or Agricultural Engineering, Sustainable Energy, Natural Resources Management, or a related field with a strong desire to work in the area of biomass for bioenergy and bioproducts. The Willow Project Research Group (http://www.esf.edu/willow) at the State University of New York College of Environmental Science and Forestry (SUNY-ESF) (Dr. Timothy A. Volk – tavolk@esf.edu) in Syracuse, NY is inviting applications for a PhD assistantship (20 hrs/wk for 3- 4 years) to work on a recently funded U.S. Department of Energy (US DOE) project on improved advanced biomass logistics utilizing short rotation woody crops (shrub willow and hybrid poplar). The ideal candidate will have a Master’s of Science in Forestry, Agriculture, Forest or Agricultural Engineering, Sustainable Energy, Natural Resources Management, GIS or a related field with a strong desire to work in the area of biomass for bioenergy and bioproducts. There are numerous interesting possibilities for the research program; any strengths, proficiencies, or experience in SAS or R programming, SQL or database management, ARCGIS, Python, agricultural CAN Bus systems, life cycle assessments, techno-economic analyses, and/or timemotion analyses should be highlighted.
