کاربرد the برای حالتی که لینکش رو گذاشتی پژمان جان متفاوت از حالتی هست که در جمله بکار بره.

2. I do my PhD at University of Stanford
بهرحال من فکر می کنم برای حالت دوم بدون the درست هست.

محسن جان برای دومی هم به نظرم the مشکلی نداره. شما این عبارت رو تو گوگل سرچ کنید:
"at the university"
سایت خیلی از دانشگاه های معتبر دنیا این عبارت رو در اون به کار بردند.

میدونید دوستان اغلب در جمله هایی که clause هستند مثل همین the university of ... درسته ولی وقتی میاد تو جمله دیگه د به کار نیمره
مثال :
The end
I got to end of this

The United S of America
I am planning to travel to United S of America
-------
البته اینا رو با اجازه علی آقا که خودشون استاد این مباحث هستند عرض کردما!

امیر حسین جان همونطور که گفتم در وب سایت بسیاری از دانشگاه های معتبر دنیا عین اون عبارت در همه جا استفاده شده و اگر غلط بود بعید می بود اینطور در دپارتمان های زبان دانشگاه ها به وفور مورد استفاده قرار بگیره! در هر حال ممکنه خیلی مرسوم نباشه، ولی قطعاً مشکلی از نظر گرامری نداره. اگر نیاز بود من مثال هاش رو اینجا می ذارم.
در ضمن بحث United States با اسم دانشگاه ها فرق می کنه.
